Enjoy This Day Tour to Edfu and Kom Ombo from Marsa Alam, where you will visit the temples on the Nile, is the best way to experience Upper Egypt’s most famous river. The Temple of Horus at Edfu is the first stop, followed by the Crocodile God’s temple at Kom Ombo.
Our expert Egyptologist will pick you up from your hotel in the morning and drive you to Edfu, where you will see the best preserved and largest temple in Egypt, adorned with stunning granite statues of the falcon god Horus. The falcon god “Horus” was worshipped in the Ptolemaic temple. Information about ancient Egyptian religion and politics can be gleaned from the reliefs adorning the temple’s walls, columns, and doorways. Horus’ vengeance on Seth for killing his father, Osiris, is depicted in one of the most fascinating of these reliefs, and it was enacted once a year at the temple. Some reliefs detail the temple’s construction process and give dates of when various parts of the structure were finished.
Having completed our visit to Edfu, we set off for Kom-Ombo. Where you go to the region, you should check out the temple that honors both the falcon god Haroeris (in the southern section) and the crocodile god Sobek (in the northern section) (the northern part). The Ptolemaic period saw its construction. Particularly intriguing is the scene depicted on the inner face of the temple’s rear wall, which most likely depicts a collection of surgical implements.
Our Representative will take you back to your accommodation in Marsa Alam when this exciting excursion is over.
