Queen Hetepheres and the mystery story of her tomb located next to the Pyramids of Giza
Hetep-Heras is the daughter of King Honi, the last king of the Third Dynasty and the owner of the Meidum pyramid in Beni Suef, and the wife of King Sneferu, the first king of the Fourth Dynasty, the owner of the leaning pyramid and the red pyramid in Dahshur, and the mother of King Khufu, the owner of the Great Pyramid in Giza.
Hetep Haras is why Sneferu was made the legitimate king of the country because of his marriage to her because some archaeologists believe that Sneferu is the son of King Huni, but from a non-main wife, meaning he had no right to rule Egypt. Still, by his marriage to Hetep Haras, he became the legitimate king of the country.
In 1925, under the supervision of the Egyptologist (Alan Roe), the American Harvard University mission was able to make excavations next to the pyramid of Khufu, and a well was found. It had no structure built above it. It is the burial chamber, and here they are in front of a cemetery that thieves have not touched since it was first closed.
When they entered the burial chamber, the explorers expected and knew that this tomb belongs to Queen Hetepheres due to the presence of her name and the name of her husband Sneferu on the furniture. They certainly thought that her body would be inside this alabaster coffin, but the shock occurred when the coffin was opened and was found empty, but where is the mummy…!
Archaeologists expected that the queen had another tomb. The tomb and the body of the queen were stolen, but the theft was caught, and some ornaments were recovered, but of course, the queen’s body was torn in fear to chase them, and this is what they believed, but the disappearance of the queen’s mummy was hidden from King Khufu. Above it is evidence that they concealed from Khufu the truth of what happened to her body.
The cemetery furniture was reburied and placed on top of each other without arrangement and in a hurry.
