Pyramid of King Amenemhat III in Dahshur
This pyramid is built between the first (Sneferu) pyramid (the broken pyramid) and (the village of Dahshur), close to the edge of the cultivated land. It is the last group of pyramids in the necropolis of Dahshur on the southern side, and archaeologists call this pyramid (the Black Pyramid).
We do not see from this pyramid except the inner part, which is built with mud bricks, which makes it difficult to determine its original height, although it is believed that it was about 81 m. The length of the base side is 100 m, and the angle of inclination is 57 degrees.
And around (the base of the pyramid), there are scattered fragments of white limestone that were part of the outer covering of the pyramid, which fell due to time and erosion factors.
A (small pyramid) of black granite was found on top of this pyramid. On the side of this (pyramid) – now preserved (in the Egyptian Museum) – the titles of the king (Amenemhat III) were inscribed.
The entrance to this pyramid is located on the eastern side, and the interior of the pyramid resembles the design of the pyramid of this king in Hawara, especially the hallways and the halls, which were covered with blocks of limestone, and led to the burial chamber, which contains a beautiful sarcophagus made of pink granite.
